OVERALL OUTLOOK

Wednesday: A generally calm and warm start with small surf, light winds and a useful early-to-midday shore window. The swell period lengthens through the day, but wave faces remain manageable.

Thursday: Warm and initially fishable, but the surf model shows a sharp increase from the afternoon into the evening. The late-day rise in wave size and wind makes exposed rocks, ledges and offshore launches unsuitable for casual fishing.

FISHING FOCUS

Shad remain the accessible target where baitfish are present. The lingering Sardine Run can keep garrick, kingfish, kob and other predators active around bait and moving water. Use sardine, red-eye, chokka or lures according to the target and local conditions; the early moving tide is the best practical starting point.

Temperature: approximately 20–36°C at the Scottburgh forecast point, with the hottest conditions forecast during Thursday morning and early afternoon.
Rain: light rain signals appear mainly later in the 1–3 day model, with approximately 1–2 mm shown in some Thursday-night/Friday transition periods; the main moderate-rain signal is later on Friday.

FISHING FOCUS

If local conditions are safe, fish the early high-tide build and the morning period for shad, kob and garrick around bait, mouths and structure. Do not allow the afternoon solunar period to override the rapidly rising surf and wind. Live bait, sardine or trolled lures remain relevant for predators only when the launch and sea state are safe.

NETTING, SIGHTINGS, SALES LOCATIONS & PRICES

Latest detailed public KZN report found: The KingFisher report dated 27 August said South Coast garrick remained a major attraction, with kingfish and shad offering sport along beaches and rocky points. It said lingering Sardine Run effects were still influencing fish movements and that anglers could expect a wider variety of species once the sea settled.
Current public sardine context: The KingFisher's public social update states that the Sardine Run made another appearance along the KZN coast, but experts considered it likely to be the tail end of the run. Search results for the same update also reference a large shoal netted at Port Shepstone; this is a public observation, not a verified Region 2 catch count or weight.
South Coast fishing remains weather-window dependent. The latest detailed report noted that massive winds had kept many anglers from the rocks and beaches, although some large pelagic catches were still reported along the KZN coastline.
No verified current Pennington, Scottburgh, Sezela, Hibberdene or Port Shepstone sales location and price list was found in the checked public sources.
