OVERALL OUTLOOK

Wednesday: A large, rough surf is forecast through the day, with a 6.5–7 ft wave face and strengthening NE wind. This is not a suitable exposed-rock or small-craft day; only sheltered locations should be considered after a local safety check.

Thursday: The large surf remains near 6–7 ft, although wind is lighter than Wednesday. The best practical approach is to avoid exposed ledges and launches, and wait for the forecast easing expected later in the week.

Temperature: approximately 18–22°C in the Scottburgh weather model; the surf forecast shows about 17–24°C through the day.
Rain: mostly dry in the accessible model periods; no material Wednesday rainfall signal was shown.
Wind: fresh NE, around 30 km/h in the weather model during the daytime, with lighter NNE wind overnight. The surf forecast showed roughly 16–42 km/h through the day.

FISHING FOCUS

Shad, kob and garrick remain the main shore targets where bait and safe water are present, but Wednesday's surf makes exposed fishing impractical. The recent late sardine activity around Margate may keep predators interested, yet bait movement must be confirmed locally. Do not substitute a solunar window for a sea-safety assessment.

Temperature: approximately 19–24°C in the Scottburgh weather model; the surf forecast shows about 18–26°C through the day.
Rain: mostly dry during Thursday daylight in the accessible forecast, with a chance of showers later in the wider 1–3 day model cycle.
Wind: around 20 km/h NE early in the weather model, becoming light later; surf-model wind approximately 3–23 km/h.
Surf wave face: approximately 1.8–2.1 m (6–7 ft), easing only slightly through the day.

FISHING FOCUS

The new-moon solunar periods may favour shad, kob and garrick around bait and moving water, but the large swell makes exposed shore fishing and offshore activity unsuitable for most anglers. Fish only from a protected position with a clear retreat route, or wait for the expected Friday easing.

NETTING, SIGHTINGS, SALES LOCATIONS & PRICES

Recent public South Coast observation: The North Coast Courier reported a late sardine revival, with pockets of sardines spotted being harassed by predators off Margate. This is relevant regional context but is not a live Pennington-to-Port Shepstone catch log.
The same public update referred to a 54 kg kob and a late sardine revival before rough seas sent anglers ashore; the accessible social extract did not provide a complete location-by-location breakdown.
The latest detailed KingFisher report located (27 August) said South Coast garrick remained a major attraction, with kingfish and shad producing along beaches and rocky points, and that lingering Sardine Run effects were influencing fish movements.
Current public sources do not verify a new Region 2 netting count, a current sardine sales location, or a current local sardine price for this edition.
Public observations are local indications only and do not guarantee fish at every beach. Check bait, permits, access, species rules and actual sea conditions on arrival.
