OVERALL OUTLOOK — THURSDAY TO MONDAY

Thursday and Friday are the poorest windows, with very high rain probability, cold temperatures and large swell. Conditions begin easing Saturday. Sunday improves further, and Monday is the most favourable model window, although exposed fishing still requires a local safety check.

CURRENT PUBLIC FISHING OBSERVATIONS

  • A recent public KZN Sardine Watch result reported a sardine shoal moving past Uvongo Beach with multiple successful nettings.
  • SAnews reported no further dead or dying sardines since 3 September and no strandings along the KwaZulu-Natal coast; it noted sardines typically move north in pockets of cooler nearshore water.
  • Fishing observations are local and time-sensitive. No same-morning Region 4 catch log was independently verified for this issue.

SOURCE LIMITATIONS & SAFETY

Weather and marine values are current Open-Meteo model guidance for Port Edward and an offshore point. Forecasts are model output, not observations, and conditions can change rapidly. Tide and solunar planning is informational only.

Inspect the actual beach, ledge, river mouth or launch and check official warnings. Never let a favourable tide or solunar period override sea-state and access safety.
