OVERALL OUTLOOK — THURSDAY TO MONDAY
Thursday: Best-looking marine window, with small east swell and very high solunar activity, but inspect the actual water first.
Friday: Reasonable early opportunity, followed by caution as wind direction changes and gusts increase.
Saturday: Moderate swell, possible showers and very high tidal range; use sheltered water and reassess locally.
Sunday: Increasing swell and gusts produce a cautionary outlook for exposed coast and small craft.
Monday: Large swell and very strong gusts return; exposed fishing and launching look poor to hazardous.

FISHING FOCUS
The report closes with a clear deterioration in marine conditions. The attractive solunar periods do not offset the large swell and gust threat.
CURRENT PUBLIC FISHING OBSERVATIONS
- The latest detailed KingFisher KZN report located was dated 27 August. It said the South Coast remained productive when conditions lined up, with garrick a major attraction and kingfish and shad offering sport along beaches and rocky points; it also noted lingering Sardine Run effects on fish movements.
- A North Coast Courier public update reported a 54 kg kob and a late sardine revival before rough seas sent anglers ashore; it said pockets of sardines were spotted being harassed by predators off Margate.
- The Witness reported on 25 August that sardines were seen at Glenmore Beach and Margate Beach, followed by activity off Port Edward where two nets were pulled. It stressed that sardine activity is unpredictable along the coast.
- No same-morning public catch log for each Region 4 mark was verified. These observations are regional indicators, not guarantees for individual beaches or ledges.
