Mission Rocks
10 July 2014
Bait: Filleted Sugar Mackerel
Shane took a short walk at Mission Rocks and spin with a Iron Candy that was quickly lost do to a casting error.
He then went back to fishing the old fashion style with hook line and sinker. He reported some catches of Rock Cod all under size and then he fought a tough fight landing this lovely Specimen of Speckled Snapper.
At the time he did not know what fish it was, said it looked to pretty to kill and returned it unharmed back to its natural habitat. Great One Shane. We appreciate it although I am more of a Hook and Cook guy myself it would have been a waste to destroys this lovely fish.
Also more positive feed back from Mission Rocks is that the wholes are nice and open after the previous neap tide with two days of thumping South Eastern Weather.
I am still awaiting feed back from people who endeavored the walk to Small Bats and even gone as far as Bats Cave.
Hopefully all the favorite fishing spots are nice and open again.
One thing that this chat with Shane revealed to me is that few anglers are aware of the breeding size and breeding stock amongst fish. Some anglers are way to sensitive on the minimum size limit, but would rather kill a fish well mature enough to spawn a school of a few million young ones.
I would keep to my guns and say I only kill what you eat. If it is to small it is hardly make for an edible meal if it is to big and old it does not render a succulent feast.
